Medgate Platform: Powerful, Configurable, Flexible
The Medgate platform is the foundation of the Medgate OH&S software application. Our web-based platform is available to all suites of the Medgate application and promotes integration between OH&S functions. Whether you’re a system administrator, daily functional user, or OH&S director, the Medgate platform will help you and your teamwork more productively and effectively.
Within the Medgate platform, there are three core areas. Click on one of the below links to learn more:
General Features of the Medgate Platform:The features of the Medgate Platform can be summarized as follows:
Application Security
Configurable front-end security settings allow system administrators to easily control who has access to what data, on as granular a level as necessary. System administrators can define global security settings (only the administrator can change) and end-user security settings (designated end-users can update). Medgate’s security settings will enable you to be compliant with global data security and privacy regulations.

Audit Trail
Medgate maintains a history of all changes made to records within the application. Pertinent information including date, changes, and user who made the change is all recorded in the record history. The audit trail also keeps a record of who deleted which records and who viewed a record.

Automated Workflow & Notifications
This feature of the Medgate system enables you to promote productive, standardised workflows and ensure accurate and complete communication between OH&S employees and departments, as well as with company employees.
Automated notifications enable you to trigger email or system notifications to be sent to employees / managers / other Medgate users when required. This ensures that company employees and OH&S team members / managers are notified when they are responsible for an action / approval, when an action is due / overdue, when they are required for an appointment, training course, or surveillance activity, or need to be informed about any other activity or information.
Automated workflows enable you to configure relationships in the system. Using this feature, you can automatically trigger a specific action when an action is performed in the system (ie: when a field value is populated, or when a record is edited). This feature also helps you to reduce redundant data entry by enabling you to configure the pre-population of fields once related data is entered in the system.

Business Rules
Medgate’s configurable business rules function allows system administrators to control how data is entered in the system and what happens when data is entered. Business rules can be triggered whenever a designated action is performed (ie: when data is entered, a record is saved/edited, etc.). Examples of business rules include data entry constraints and pop-up messages, along with various other actions.

Configuration Tools
The Medgate platform provides endless front-end configurability options. Out of the box, the application is completely set-up according to common workflows, but customers have the flexibility to tailor the system to their unique organisational processes and requirements.
In addition to configurable business rules, security, system settings, and reports, you can easily configure data entry screens, lists, views, and menus to your workflow preferences and process requirements. Security settings provide system administrators the ability to create mandatory screens, lists, etc. and grant end-users with various levels of authority to create/edit /access system configuration features.

Data Imports & Interfaces
The Medgate application offers various tools to import data, including interfaces with other systems and equipment. There are numerous interfaces that come standard with the application, including but not limited to interfaces to HR systems (including SAP and Peoplesoft), laboratories, spirometers, respirators, audiometers, and a Bayesian statistical analysis tool for Occupational Hygiene.
In addition to these and other pre-defined interfaces, you can import various other data using a generic import utility that can be used from the front-end of the application.
Return to Features List
Organisational Tree
This feature allows you to set-up your organisational structure in a tree format based on HR or other organisational hierarchy. This allows one entry to be the child or parent of another. This allows you to report and secure the application based on this tree structure.
Return to Features List
Profiles & Settings
Users or groups of users can be assigned a ‘profile’ by the system administrator. The profile defines the user’s menu configuration and personal system settings.
Administrators also have many possibilities to configure Medgate’s system settings, which are all of the settings that control how the system operates. The system administrator can decide which settings can be accessed/modified by end users and which settings are system-wide (global) settings.
